Darci Liu, aka "Miss Rainbow", is one of the definitive beach beauties of Dadonghai, and can often be seen walking her slightly overweight weiner dog "Gouro" down the beach. Her flair for fashion and effortless grace and charm make her an unforgettable standout on the Sanya scene, and deservedly earned her the title of Miss Rainbow at the recent beauty competition at the Rainow Bar and Grill. She's become quite a decent surfer in her own right as well, and can be seen conquering shoulder-high waves at Dadonghai, Shimei Bay, and HoHai beaches on her girly pink longboard. |

What can I say about Harry (lastname unknown) other than he is something of a mixture between myth and legend: a musician with his own unique ability to channel music from the ether and provide a spiritually soothing connection with those around him.
Long time resident musician to Dadonghai, Harry was a musical mainstay for years as he held regular gigs at several popular establishments; drawing a regular crowd of locals wherever he played. His inspired guitar riffs and soulful tone meshed perfectly with the tropical setting of Sanya, and provided a desperately needed respite from the throbbing earache of Russian techno and Chinese karaoke. He often added the harmonica to certain sets, inviting Gouro to join in with his high pitched yelping, which Harry seemed to somehow magically weave into the harmony of the set.  Unfortunately, Harry eventually became burnt out on the seasonal ups and downs of bar owners in this quirky corner of China, and Harry has moved on to mainland venues where work is more stable and perhaps there are larger regular crowds to appreciate his music. But we all hope to see Harry return soon, and miss his lively and spirited renditions of rock's classic hits. Here's to Harry and his eventual return to Dadonghai. Cheers Harry, we miss you. |
