With growing interest in surfing in China and internationally, the number of people wanting to try out the sport is growing everyday. But growing crowds also create crowded lineups, and surf lessons and rental companies stand to profit while potentially creating a degraded surf environment for the local surf crowd- at the same time, people need to learn and rentals make surfing practical for the occasional surf tourist.
